Rumsfeld Suffers Romnesia

The day after the Benghazi embassy attack Donald Rumsfeld had the gall to change his Twitter status to, "The attacks on our embassies & diplomats are a result of perceived American weakness. Mitt Romney is right to point that out." Dick Cheney, another murderous bastard, has also previously stated “We know that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength; they are invited by the perception of weakness.” So here's a few facts I'd like to point out in return regarding "perceived American weakness" during the Bush regime in which these two served:

  • On 14 Jun 2002 the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan was targeted by a suicide bomber. Twelve people were killed and 51 more were injured.
  • On 12 Oct 2002 an explosive device was detonated outside the US Consulate in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. Fortunately nobody was hurt. Unfortunately this was part of the 2002 Bali bombings which killed 202 people and injured 240 others.
  • On 20 Feb 2003 a truck bomb was used against the international diplomatic compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Seventeen people were killed.
  • On 28 Feb 2003 the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles. Two consulate guards were killed.
  • On 30 Jul 2004 a suicide bomber killed two people at the US Embassy in Taskkent, Uzbekistan.
  • On 6 Dec 2004 militants stormed then occupied the perimeter wall of the US Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Five people were killed and ten were wounded.
  • On 2 March 2006 a suicide car bomber attacked the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan. Four people were killed, one of whom was the US diplomat thought to be the primary target.
  • On 12 Dec 2006 gunmen attacked the US Embassy in Damascus, Syria with grenades, automatic weapons, and a car bomb. One person was killed and thirteen more were wounded. Fortunately a second, larger truck bomb failed to detonate or the casualties would have been considerably higher.
  • On 12 Jan 2007 a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the U.S. embassy in Athens, Greece. Fortunately no one was injured.
  • On 9 July 2008 armed men attacked the US Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Three policemen were killed.
  • On 18 Mar 2008 the US Embassy in Sana'a, Yemen was targeted with mortar fire. The mortar shell missed the Embassy, hitting a nearby girls' school instead.
  • On 17 Sep 2008 the US Embassy in Sana'a, Yemen was attacked again. This time militants dressed as policemen attacked the embassy with rocket propelled grenades, rifles, grenades and car bombs. Six Yemeni soldiers and seven civilians were killed, while sixteen more were injured.

To date a total of four US diplomatic compounds have been attacked under the Obama administration, even the killing of Osama bin Laden yielded no retributive attacks. Would you like to do the math, or should I? Twelve attacks against US diplomatic compounds is a record high for any one President. None of this is news to Rumsfeld, he was Secretary of Defense when eight of the twelve attacks occurred. He's also the same guy who knew right where all of Saddam Hussein's WMD were but that's a different story. So tell me again Mr Rumsfeld, which party's administration was perceived as weak?.
